In a nutshell an SEO specialist is a person whose main job description is to analyze, review and make changes to websites to ensure they are optimized for search engines. On paper this sounds like hard work; it is. But thanks to technology and digital courses it is possible to learn the ropes and become an SEO specialist over a few weeks.

Here are three things you need to become an SEO specialist:

  1. Grasp of SEO tools

There are many online SEO tools at the disposal of an SEO specialist today. These tools are built to suit a wide range of needs from individual blogs to large enterprise websites. An example of such a tool is Google Page Speed Insights. This is a tool that tests how long it takes a website to load.   1. Understanding of analytics

A big part of your job as an SEO specialist will be to analyze data, understand them and use the information gathered to improve your page ranking. For this, Google have a powerful tool that is free to use that is called Google Analytics. The first step would be to familiarize yourself with the interface and slowly understanding how to mine data.

  1. Digital marketing background

As an SEO specialist your interests will lie in digital marketing. As a result; a firm background in this area will be an added advantage. However, if you do not have any experience in digital marketing there’s no need to worry. There are many online courses you can undertake and some of them are free.
